[ADB/Scrcpy] Cannot connect to scrcpy on Linux but can connect on Windows to the same device?

I am trying to connect to my android phone via scrcpy. I just set it up on a windows machine.
I plugged the device in typed:
adb devices
it showed the devices and gave the approve RSA key message on my Android device which I told it to always allow.
Then I ran
scrcpy
And it starts up.
However, I follow this same process on linux, the only difference I did is that I used 'sudo' in front of the commands.
and this is the error I get after running scrcpy
INFO: scrcpy 1.12.1 /usshare/scrcpy/scrcpy-server: 1 fil...shed. 0.3 MB/s (24773 bytes in 0.070s) [server] ERROR: Exception on thread Thread[main,5,main] java.lang.AssertionError: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at com.genymobile.scrcpy.wrappers.SurfaceControl.setDisplaySurface(SurfaceControl.java:75) at com.genymobile.scrcpy.ScreenEncoder.setDisplaySurface(ScreenEncoder.java:178) at com.genymobile.scrcpy.ScreenEncoder.streamScreen(ScreenEncoder.java:70) at com.genymobile.scrcpy.Server.scrcpy(Server.java:34) at com.genymobile.scrcpy.Server.main(Server.java:163) at com.android.internal.os.RuntimeInit.nativeFinishInit(Native Method) at com.android.internal.os.RuntimeInit.main(RuntimeInit.java:355) Caused by: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Native Method) at com.genymobile.scrcpy.wrappers.SurfaceControl.setDisplaySurface(SurfaceControl.java:73) ... 6 more Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: displayToken must not be null at android.view.SurfaceControl$Transaction.setDisplaySurface(SurfaceControl.java:3438) at android.view.SurfaceControl.setDisplaySurface(SurfaceControl.java:2376) ... 8 more INFO: Initial texture: 1080x2400 WARN: Device disconnected
Anyone know what is going wrong?

adb stopped working during install (Manjaro-Linux and Pixel 2)

Hi, i am running the installation exactly as mentioned on this guide: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/walleye/install
It all works fine and as expected until i try to adb sideload the lineage img on it. Suddenly it says adb: sideload connection failed: no devices/emulators found
That is weird because adb reboot bootloader had worked on the other steps before. I enabled USB-debugging again before doing that.
adb devices or ./adb devices return no devices.

Does anybody know why that is happening?
Thank you!

edit: same after a restart of the computer and/or restarting the adb deamon

some more info:

Anyone use an ADB trackball on Linux?

I’ve got my eye on CST trackballs but noticed that there are some similar devices(as far as the form factor) on ebay pretty cheap. The catch is that they’re for Apple devices—has anyone ever tried these Apple Desktop Bus devices on linux? Or even a modern Mac? Haven’t found much yet from searching re: support.

Is native sideloading still available in stable channel with ADB/Linux?

I've been trying to get this to work on my Lenovo Duet 10.1 with no success. Been wondering of I should try the Dev channel, not sure that would make a difference.

How to authorize Nokia G10 with shattered screen with adb so that I can remotely access the phone from scrcpy, or remotely access it or it's data in any way? (Linux)

I need to access my Nokia G10 with a shatter screen, but unfortunately, running "adb devices list" lists my phone as Unauthorized, and trying to run scrcpy results in this :
scrcpy 1.24 ERROR: Device is unauthorized: ERROR: (usb) PT99652AA1161503313 unauthorized ERROR: A popup should open on the device to request authorization. ERROR: Check the FAQ: ERROR: Server connection failed
Any idea what I could do to authorize the device or access it?

How to connect adb devices to linux container?

I've found interesting blog to connect adb devices to linux docker container
http://learningbysimpleway.blogspot.com/2018/02/how-to-connect-adb-devices-to-linux.html
I've followed the steps given, but the adb is still connecting to the host machine, and not the container.
Has anyone tried this before? Did it work? Let me know if more info is required. Thanks

ADB cannot see my device, xz2c, running Linux.

Hoping somebody can help me out here. I've followed the official LOS instructions for my device, enabled OEM unlocking & USB debugging in the developer options and checked that bootloader unlocking is allowed. However, I just cannot get ADB to see my device. I've also tried booting the phone straight into fastboot mode as suggested but, no luck. Also tried different USB cables and ports.
I have noticed a couple of times that the phone does make a notification sound when I plug it in, it doesn't happen most of the time though. Regardless, ADB still doesn't see it. I'm unable to get my laptop to see the device at all, even just for normal file transfers. I did select "file transfer" as the default USB option in the developer options too. I have 2 other Sony phones that show up fine.
I really would appreciate some advice here, this is the second xz2c I have tried now (first one had a hardware malfuntion), it's getting quite expensive!

Unable to install on Linux Mint, adb-fastboot

- I apply the recommendations of Wiki LineageOS to switch from Android to LineageOS on my Huawei P8 Lite.
- Impossible to install adb-fastboot on Linux Mint... even after rebooting.
- I am new to linux and computer language.
- My PC is running Linux Mint
- I have installed with the software library : Android-tools-fasbbot
- I don't know what to do at this point
- when I apply the command to the folder :

~/.profile :
if [ -d "$HOME/poisson/adb-fastboot/platform-tools" ] ; then
export PATH="$HOME/poisson/adb-fastboot/platform-tools:$PATH"
fi

- Here is the answer:

~$ ~/.profile:
bash: /home/fish/.profile: : No such file or folder
[email protected]:~$ if [ -d "$HOME/fish/adb-fastboot/platform-tools" ] ; then
> export PATH="$HOME/fish/adb-fastboot/platform-tools:$PATH" > fi
> fi

- My folder is stored here:
- /home/poisson/adb-fastboot

Install TWRP on Redmi 4x using adb (Linux)

On phone:
  1. You need to unlock the xiaomi loader: https://en.miui.com/unlock/
  2. To prevent the phone from becoming a brick during the installation of the recovery, we check the phone's charge, I advise that the phone is charged at least 30%.
On linux:
  1. Install adb and fastboot:
On Ubuntu/Debian/Linux Min/etc:
 sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot
sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot
On Fedora/CentOS/RedHat:
sudo yum install android-tools-adb sudo apt-get install android-tools-fastboot
  1. Download TWRP recovery:
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/santoni/twrp-3.6.0_9-0-santoni.img.html
Move this file to /home/'user'/twrp and rename this file to twrp.img
  1. Install TWRP on phone
Open terminal adn use this command:
cd 'PATH to file'/twrp adb start-server adb reboot recovery fastboot flash recovery twrp.img fastboot boot twrp.img
Congratulation! You install TWRP on your Redmi 4x.

After all, shut down adb:
adb kill-server

Installing adb on linux

I would like to get away from google, once and for all and would like to use lineageOS to achieve this. While looking over the instructions for adb installation I ran into this confusing mess and need some guidance please.
"Download the Linux zip from Google.
Extract it somewhere - for example, ~/adb-fastboot.
Add the following to ~/.profile:
if [ -d "$HOME/adb-fastboot/platform-tools" ] ; then export PATH="$HOME/adb-fastboot/platform-tools:$PATH" fi
• Log out and back in.
• You may also need to set up udev rules: see this repository for more info.
I am tech but new to linux, if i understand any of it - it's the very beginning...correct me if I'm wrong but after downloading, it instructs me to extract to / (root?) And then copy and paste "if [ -d "$HOME/adb-fastboot/platform-tools" ] ; then export PATH="$HOME/adb-fastboot/platform-tools:$PATH" fi" to where?
I'm very confused and would greatly appreciate someone who understands to guide me, please.

Are you able to use the Linux Development Environment option to connect to an android phone and issue ADB commands?

Was curious and couldn't find an answer. Since linux runs as a virtual machine on the slate, is it able to connect to an android phone via cable and issue ADB/fastboot commands?

How to install and use ADB for Android devices on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Chromebooks, or even in a browser

How to install and use ADB for Android devices on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, Chromebooks, or even in a browser
If you want to do any number of things that require access to the so-called Android Debug Bridge (ADB) or the fastboot tools for Android — sideloading apps, installing custom ROMs, taking screenshots in apps that forbid it, or accessing certain hidden features — you'll need to get ADB up and running on your platform of choice first. Fortunately, doing so is possible virtually on any device at this point — you can even start ADB from another Android phone, or a web browser.
